Day 2

I won't be publishing every single day or occurrence using the Wii so don't get too comfortable with that idea. :)

My wife came home yesterday and after the usual pleasantries, she pulled out the board and proceeded with her routines on Wii Fit. I have to say that the fact it is that easy to set up and just do is a testament to the product. It is also a testament to my wife for her sticking to the routine. There will also be exceptions but the idea is a little exercise every single day will reap worlds of benefits.

So, I was watching her from the office; I should have gotten up and did them off the board WITH her though. She had to do the hoola hoops one. It's interesting watching her swing her hips round and round. Ahem, but I digress. She also was doing what can only be described as a weird DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION knock-off that could use an infusion of much better music. The last one I noticed her doing (I did not account for all the things she ended up with) was a running exercise where she puts the Wiimote in her pocket and jogs on the spot. It measures her pace and adjusts the other Miis on the screen to compensate as she was not allowed to pass them.

All in all, the range of exercises and activities (which by doing you unlock more of them) that this device has is quite engaging and interesting. Once I am able to use the board, I think I will not get bored easily and will be able to keep up using it. It also brings to mind that Nintendo probably has a 2nd and 3rd and nth edition waiting in the wings as this can be as extensible as the Sims(tm) franchise is. Good for Nintendo and good for the consumer.

On another note, a friend of mine living north of the GTA says that her area has a serious shortage on the Wii Fit and that there are people camping out at the stores as a piddly two units trickle in on the trucks. There is one thing to be said about supply and demand but there has to be a limit. I basically gave up thinking about getting a Wii because of the inability to find one in stock when I had money. If my friend had not gotten one and then decided he did not want it, we would not have it now. Nintendo, you need to do much better at providing a decent supply and the stores need to do better at distributing that supply. Orleans has them such that my brother can walk in and pick up TWO of them but Newmarket has a lineup outside drug stores to get them!??! That is not smart business.

Till next time.

Ciao.
